  Hi
I'm helping someone from the US with their Irish roots. She's descended from a Mary Quigley born in Mountmellick Worhouse on 24th May 1885, mother's name Bridget Quigley. Sh'd like to know if any Mountmellick Workhouse records for that period are accessible. Thanks in advance.

My grandfather Christopher Conroy was baptized at St. Joseph's Church, Mountmellick, on March 14, 1847. He came to the U.S. as a single young man but I don't know what year. He left behind parents Edward Conroy and Sarah Deegan Conroy and grandparents Peter Conroy and Catherine Brenigan, a brother James baptized June 25, 1854, and two sisters named Mary one baptized July 23, 1848 and one baptized March 21, 1852. Why would people name both of their children Mary? Would the first one have died? Another brother Thomas baptized March 15, 1857 came to the U.S. with him. I would like to know if James ever married, what happened to the Marys, parents, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
